WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY?
Craniosacral Therapy is a “hands on” therapy that works with the person on all levels, not just the physical. In cranial work we listen via the hands to how well the patient’s body mind is able to express its health. Listening on all levels the patient’s intelligence system to reveal the patterns of restriction that are impeding full expression of health. What is received by the practitioner is automatically reflected back to this intelligent system. This reflecting back is an integral part of the healing process – the patient is on a deeper level able to see, and feel, an aspect of who they are and what they are holding in a way that is not normally available to them.
Craniosacral is an exceptionally gentle yet extremely powerful therapy. Being so gentle and non-invasive, it is ideally suited to babies pregnant mums, the elderly and those with acutely painful or chronic conditions. This said, many people come simply because they really enjoy the treatment and sense of wellbeing it gives them. Usually clients lie on the couch, fully clothed and I make contact with different areas of the body using gentle touch. You may notice heat, movement, tingling and other sensations as your body starts letting go of old patterns of holding.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Everyone’s experienced physical trauma. Accidents, illnesses, emotional and mental shocks all have impact on the body. Although the body absorbs some of the trauma at the time, a lasting strain often remains. Over the time the body finds it difficult to cope with accumulated stress and symptoms start to appear.
CS therapists are taught to detect blockages or disruptions on a tissue, joint and organ level, which can be treated using subtle adjustments. However, more deeply, in the core of the body, flows the Cerebral Spinal Fluid. Its bathes the Central Nervous System between the cranium (skull) and sacrum (tailbone) and its free, rhythmic fluctuation – Craniosacral rhythm – is essential to our wellbeing. CS therapists can feel and assess this rhythm and gently release any twists and pulls that interrupt its natural smoothness. Once the cerebral spinal fluid is free up, the central nervous system can start to relax and other systems in the body begin to heal.
IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY SUITABLE FOR ME?
CST is suitable for people of all ages, from newly-born babies to the old and infirm. It is suitable for those simply looking in the short term for an improvement in their condition, as well as for those who are willing to work over a long period of time with deeply held patterns and their related symptom pictures.
SOMATO EMOTIONAL RELEASE
Technique used to release the body's somatic and emotional memory stored. All experienced physical trauma, accidents, illness, emotional shock. These experiences will remain in our body (memory cell) that over the years become increasingly difficult to release, eventually emerging symptoms: physical pains, insomnia, depression, etc. Emotions that are in tissues such as fear, guilt, resentment, loneliness and shame (among others) are harmful and contribute to physical and emotional imbalances to arise over time. When this technique is applied, the patient experiences are revived and it is in this process that the energy retained in the tissues is released.
THE PERSON MAY OR MAY NOT GO INTO EMOTIONAL RELEASE PROCESS DURING A SESSION OF CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY.
The experience of cranial sacral therapy and somato emotional release techniques in aquatic environment leads to a deepening similar to intra uterine environment. Freedom of movements is easy in the water, making the therapeutic process a very sensory experience, the person may reach insights and epiphanies.
The person has the opportunity to complete let go in water, both physical and mental, the therapist will facilitate the process, making it easier for the body, and smooth movements, also giving energetic support.
